Bauer - RVR Fly Fishing Reel

Bauer spent over two years developing the RVR reel. They started with a groundbreaking and beautifully modern design and quickly found out how challenging it is to machine a reel this complex.

No one had ever seen anything like it. The complexity and double anodized design of the RVR would prove too difficult to achieve on a conventional 3-Axis machine, so they sought out the newest 5-Axis machines available. The result speaks for itself.

5-Axis
5-Axis CNC machines have allowed Bauer to obtain multiple levels of depth in the spool face, creating finer spokes and more angles of reinforcement. By utilizing the unique movement of 5-Axis machines, Bauer achieves greater precision and eye-popping geometry and symmetry – yielding tight tolerances, and a premium surface finish. For anglers, this means optimized line-backing capacities, faster line retrieval, and perfect rod/reel balance.

Zero Backlash Clutch
The simplicity of design, larger components, and non-corrosive materials ensure reliability and smooth consistent performance every time the reel is put to the test. The Zero backlash clutch locks down without slipping even at the highest of drags, truly offering the angler maximum drag when it matters most. The Bauer clutch also possesses zero start up Inertia, this refers to the initial resistance met when drag is first engaged. By eliminating start up inertia and enabling our reels to have the same resistance from the beginning of the run to the end of the run you will lose less fish and be able to fish light tippet with confidence.
